I've painted with acrylics since the early 70s, adapting my methods and techniques to a practical system that works for me. I'm primarily a studio painter, working from my own photographs and notes. I like to take time with my work, approaching the creative process unrushed and thoughtfully. While I limit myself to a split primary palette (two reds, two blues, two yellows, plus white), I enjoy taking advantage of the boundless creative properties of the medium which makes for an eclectic body of work from serene to robust, best reflecting my personality and taste.
As an artist I'm compelled to tell about the Beautiful -- a term my Mom used to describe something God made which caused her to pause in wonder and joy. She would frequently marvel at what the Almighty provided for her to enjoy at the moment -- the Beautiful. That's what I want to paint. And I see the Beautiful in the places I visit and settings that I know and treasure, right where I live, in wonderful New England -- land and seascapes, mountain views, farm animals, seasons, and beautiful light.
